Where can i download .avi drivers for xp?

-i have got xp back on my pc but it has lost some drivers.

when i click on an .avi file it opens windows media players and comes up with the message XVID MPEG-4 (XVID) and i found out that windows web page is use-less for xp now, so i am asking you if you know what the problem is (i am guessing the drivers) and how i can fix it.the .avi is a file format and what you need is a codec to be able to use it.

Try VLC Player as the media player of choice, it comes with a wide variety of codecs already included and will play most things without issues and will download new codecs when it requires them http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

You have missing codecs. Download the K-Lite codec pack from here: http://codecguide.com/download_k-lite_co鈥?/a>
For the specific Xvid codec, go here:

http://www.xvid.org/
Just go to windows update and get the latest version of Media player for XP. That should install everything you need to play avi files.
