-I just recently purchased a new laptop and the man in the store told me in order to make my battery last and to keep my laptop preforming better in the long run that I should remove the battery and just use it via the main power cable.
Is this true ? What are the pros and cons to doing this ? My sister does it with her netbook and she told me that it works really well.Pros:
Your computer produces less heat and therefore does less wear and tear to the insides of the computer which will coincidently give your computer a longer lifespan.
Cons:
Your laptop is not portableYes he's right. Keeping the battery in when the laptop is on will overcharge it and it can reduce the overall battery life after a while. It's not really noticeable though. I always have the battery in my laptop with the power chord in and I haven't noticed much of a difference (maybe around 5 minutes less battery life after 4 years of heavy use).
It will still work with the battery out and the power chord plugged in. Just make sure the chord doesn't fall out.
Best way to use battery just Keep out power cord when its full and when its draining just switch the power on definitely it will save your battery life.
if you aren't using the battery it's best to remove it.
i dont notice much of a difference when i take out my battery, it still gets hot, so imo keep the battery in.
